Closing Program of “Coro de Soles Menores” |The Choir has arrived

Over the five months of Coro de Soles Menores, visitors often asked: “When will the choir begin? Is there really someone singing?” The persistence of this question became an unspoken footnote to the exhibition—an anticipation of a voice that never arrived. This absence echoes Bárbara Sánchez-Kane’s enduring inquiry: garments as extensions of the body, even when the body itself is no longer present.

On its closing, CHERUBY brings this latent motif into reality by inviting a local community choir to activate the space through a live performance. In his practice, the “choir” is not a religious form, but a proposition of shared breath, collective voice, and co-existence. His work We are the breath of the volcanoes that we have exhaled (2025) embodies this through a mechanized garment that rises and falls like breathing—suggesting connection, resonance, and the subtle shifts within collective structures. Here and now, the choir’s voices intervene, becoming a direct response to, and extension of, this proposition.

The program begins with a curatorial walkthrough at 15:00, followed by the choral performance at 15:30. As the voices rise, the question suspended over five months dissolves, giving way to a truly shared moment—we are the breath of the volcanoes that we have exhaled.
